Cora Rickard VanSteamburg was born at Preston, Wayne Co., PA, a daughter of the late August & Mary Rickard. She was married on July 3, 1893 to William VanSteamburg who survives with children; Clarence, Leon, Gus, Grover, Charles, Helen and Olive of Galeton; and Mrs. Mary Lucas of Ralston, Pa., and one sister; Mrs. Minnie Dorson of Galeton. Buried in West Hill Cemetery.
VANSTEAMBURG, William Death 07-12-1913 William Van Steamburg, a veteran of the Civil War died at the Soldier’s Home at Bath, NY on Saturday [7-12-1913]. He was born in Delaware Co., NY in 1845. He has lived previously with his son William Van Steamburg at Galeton. His death occurred at the Soldier’s Home and he was buried there. Besides his son, he is survived by 3 daughters; Anna Mathern, May Frost and Cynthia.

Daniel VanWegen of Coudersport was a nephew. He was buried in Ithaca, Gratiot Co. Mich. Which place had been his home the past 33 years.

Their first 4 children were born in the old country: Mary (deceased) stayed in the old country with her grandparents and they never saw her again; Joseph (deceased), Charles, Pauline (deceased). Three children were born in America: Augusta (Mrs. Nels Anderson) of Port Allegany), Edward & Robert of Coudersport. Buried in Eulalia cemetery.
