Ruthven Helen Stewart is the Grandmother of Kathie Dunham. Kathie's GG Grandfather was William Ford Moore, he came to Buffalo from England between 1851 and 1860. He married Josephine Webb, who was from Canada. They moved to Jamestown, NY about 1867, and lived there until about 1890's, then moved to East Randolph. They left in 1906 for Cleveland, Ohio. William Ford Moore died in 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio, but was brought back to Jamestown and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery with his first wife, two sons and a son-in-law. Kathie's family were there this summer to visit the graves.
Kathie's G Grandmother was Grace E. Moore. She married Rueben Henry Stewart. You will notice the similarity between his name and Ruthven Helen Stewart. Rueben died in Chicago just a couple months before Kathie's Grandmother was born, when he was hit by a freight train. Grace came back to New York State. Kathie has yet to discover how or why they were in Chicago. Rueben was born in Warren, PA. His first wife was Flora Osborn, daughter of Lyman Osborn, born in Busti, NY. Kathie has found Flora in the 1900 and 1910 census as a widow, not divorced. It may be that Rueben was married to both at the same time. When Kathie Dunham finally found the family for Rueben, they had no idea he had been married a second time.
Ruthven Helen Stewart died 1930 in Lorain Co., Ohio after her clothes
caught fire while cooking. Kathie's Dad, a brother and a sister were
seperated. Kathie's Dad grew up in an orphanage, so they knew very
little about Kathie's Grandmothers family. Kathie says she is very
pleased with all that she has found about her family and appreciates all
that read her family's story.
